Batman – A Telltale Series

Batman – A Telltale Series is a game developed and published by Telltale Games.

Like the recent Telltale games you can see this entry as an interactive movie in which you take the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. During the five episodes the game contains you have to make choices and save Gotham from the Children of Arkham.

Typical Telltale, but different
The game starts with a very good first episode. In this episode we learn a little bit about Bruce Wayne and the story will be begin. We learn some shocking facts about the Wayne family and have to make some choices.

Most of the game it’s standard Telltale formula. The only different in this game is the planning/detective features you have as Batman. Fun and a good puzzle element, but way to short to actually be a big game feature.

The story is well written, the characters have a real personality, but we already know that Telltale Games is good with that.

The only real problem I had with this game was the performance issues. On both the PS4 and the PC I had frame drops when using the hologram during the game. Nothing really that bad, but a drop from 60 to 15 during these scenes is really noticable and gives it some bad taste. It’s not something I expect during Telltale games. Also the loading moment can be a few seconds long, not that bad either, but when in an action scenes this will take you out of focus.

JosWeb Score (0/100):
I like the story of this game alot. I will not spoil too much, because the less you know the better. I can say that there are some good development moments for the bad guys and the choices will have some consequences.

The technical issues sure are something Telltale need to have a look at, because a frame drop that big on a console can harm the future fan base.

Skylanders Imaginators

Skylanders Imaginators is the sixth game in the Skylanders series. This game is created by Toys For Bob who also created the other versions as well.

This installment of the series has been released on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This is the first game that hasn’t been released on the Wii.

The game itself is pretty straight forward, instead of Flynn being the lead role in this game, you now have to do it with the Skylanders itself. The Skylanders you will help you through this story are the main Skylanders from the Netflix’s Skylanders Academy series.

It’s something to get used to, because seeing Spyro helping you out, while playing as Spyro can be a little confusing.

That being said, the story itself is actually pretty short and not so surprising. You have to stop Kaos and his imaginators while visiting multiple locations. There are some funny jokes in the game, but don’t expect to be blown away by the awesomeness of this story.

New, but old Skylanders
The game itself introduces the Sensai Skylanders. There are the Skylanders figures with the pretty large base. These are completely new figures but also include some of the bad guys from Skylanders Trap Team (See wolfgang in the picture below).

The normal starter pack includes 2 sensai Skylanders and 1 creation crystal. There are some other starter packs as well that can include more or special figures. So does the Crash Bandicoot starter pack include the Crash Bandicoot and Neo Cortex Skylander figures. There were only for PS4 at laucnh, but now can be bought seperate and I think you can play them on all consoles now, not 100% sure about that though.

Creation Crystal
With the creation crystal you are able to create your own Skylander. Parts to create your Skylander can be received by opening chests and playing the story mode. At the end of every level you are granted some items.

One crystal can create a Skylander of the following battle classes. Be careful, because you can’t change the battle class after picking one.

Some say that the options are limited, but I think Toys For Bob did a really good job with this “create your own Skylander” function. There is enough to choose at and the combinations of the catchphrase can be very funny. Mine was “Be afraid of the bananas”.

Is it worth the money?
This is always a hard question. Skylanders Imaginators can be very expensive. If you want every battle class you need to buy a few creation crystals which have the price of 10€ per piece here.

The starter pack is enough to complete the game and if you’re not new to the series you probably have some Skylanders left from the older installments which you can use in this game as well. So it’s not needed to spend all your money on new toys, unless you want to complete the game 100% and get all the achievements. Yes you need to buy 3 more sensai Skylanders to complete the achievement to level a sensai Skylander to level 20.

JosWeb Score (0/100):
Eventhough the story wasn’t the best I had a amazing time playing the Skylanders Imaginators game. The jokes were fun, they added some cool new Skylanders to the game and not playing aside Flynn, but other Skylanders was surprising as well.

I didn’t buy any other Imaginators Skylanders, and completed the game only with the Crash Bandicoot starter pack for the PS4. I completed the story, but still have stuff to do in the game.

Comparing this with the older versions, this could be my favorite installment so far. Way better than the Superchargers one.

I would recommend picking this up, if you want to play it and you like collecting toys and putting them on a base everytime you want to play as one. If you want to pick it up, but the price is too much, just wait for next year. Skylanders games go down in price alot if you wait a year.

Tennis In The Face & Baseball Riot

This is a review for both Tennis in the face and Baseball Riot. Both games are developed and published by 10tons Ltd.

The game is a puzzle game in which you throw a ball and need to knock down all the people. There a several objects that make the game hard, like glass that stops the ball and enemies that are harder to beat than the standard enemies.

Enough levels
The game is divided in 9 areas. Every area has a different enemies introduced and every area has an avarage of 14 levels. This is quite alot, if you remember that the price is only 5€.

Tennis In The Face or Baseball Riot have been released on almost all platforms. I played the games on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC (Steam) and enjoyed the game alot. The controls are simple to use and puzzles can be challenging.

Clowns in the Browser
There is a free beta build of Clowns in the Browser at this moment on You can try out the game there and if you like it I recommend you to buy it.

JosWeb Score (0/100):
I enjoy small puzzle games like Tennis In The Face or Baseball Riot alot. I was really happy to also see them on consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One and hopefully more games like these will follow in the future.

Is it worth the 5€? I don’t really know. There are alot of levels and puzzles can get hard sometimes, but if you want them all (Tennis In The Face and Baseball Riot), it can get a little pricy.

I do recommend checking them out and to buy them when it’s a sale (if you like puzzle games ofcourse).
