I have reached the 4000 subscribers on YouTube!
For many of you that isn’t much, but for a gameplay only channel that got a partnership with RPM Network in 2012 that’s a pretty big achievement.
Now that I have achieved this number of subscribers I think my “best” time on youtube is over. I will continue uploading videos to YouTube, but those will only be videos for next to my game reviews. I will be no longer do walkthroughs of games.
My future plans
I will still be active on GameResourceHD, but don’t expect much videos on JosPlays anymore. I will no focus on completing the game Blob From Space. Also I will be doing more reviews of indie games and movies and maybe AAA games in the future.
My top viewed videos
Here are my top 3 videos with most views: GTA IV : Niko stole a Formula 1 car
It’s almost 2017 and that means a new year!
This year I have some new goals. I will continue with the reviews for games and movies, but I will cut back on the YouTube stuff.
I will keep making videos for GameResource, but will upload less videos on my own channel. The only series starting on my channel is “JosPlays his library” in which I try to play some games of my library. These could be full walkthroughs or just seperate videos untill I get bored or stuck in the game.
On the GameResource channel on the other hand I will do walkthroughs of new games in cooperation with the online webshop GameResource. This will also be limited to 4 uploads per weeks, so that means only 6 videos made by me in the week. This is because I don’t have that much spare time anymore, because I now have a full-time job and hopefully will have throughout this year.
So thank you for reading and if you want to see a game that I have in my library (PS4, PS2, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC or 3DS) let me know and I will try to make some time for the game.
This review will contain spoilers. You have been warned!
Rogue One is a “stand alone” movie that takes place between Star Wars Episode 3 (Revenge of the Sith) and Star Wars Episode 4 (A New Hope). With “stand alone” I mean it’s a movie on itself and not based around the main story line, but the movie has clearly a connection with the other Star Wars movies.
In this episode Jyn Erso and her squadron called Rogue One infiltrates an imperial base to retrieve the only weakness of the Death Star.
The squadron exsist out of 5 people and 1 reprogrammed imperial droid (K-2SO). Jyn Erso the leader of the squadron, Cassian Andor the rebel that never denies an order, Chirrut Imwe the blind spirtual fighter, Baze Malbus the freelance assassin and Bodhi Rook the imperial cargo pilot who turned to the rebels with his information.
Galen Erso father of Jyn Erso and genius of the construction of the Death Star worked on a plan to make it easy to destroy the Death Star. This because he has no longer faith in the Galactic Empire and their space station.
It’s impossible to get an hold on Galen Erso and the rebellion want to assassinate the man when they have the opportunity. The order has been given to Cassian, and when the times is there he doesn’t kill Galen Erso. This was the first time he denied an order.
We get alot of background story of Jyn Erso, sadly the start of the movie is very “all over the place”. The creators of the movie tried to do alot in the first few minutes of the movie that it felt overwhelming with information.
Besides Jyn Erso we also learn something about Cassian Andor and see his motives change during the movie, but that’s almost all of the real character development we had in this movie. The rest of the cast sadly didn’t leave a big impression during the movie.
I’m one with the force, the force is with me
Can these stormtroopers hit anything. Maybe Chirrut Imwe is a very strong force user, but the thing that really had my mind meddling was that an entire squad of stormtroopers missed all their shots against a slowly walking Chirrut Imwe. Even if he had some kind of mind trick on the stormtroopers, would it still be impossible for an entire squadron of stormtroopers to miss 1 walking person with no cover?
Ofcourse the creators needed some old characters to involve them in this story. Not only by calling their name, Tarkin and Princess Leia appear on screen. Sadly they are completely made from CGI. At first I didn’t mind and thought it was brave to try it, but after seeing the CGI characters for 5 times it started to bother me. You cleary can see it’s CGI and it kind of ruins the magic this movie had to give us.
The movie doesn’t end that well for our Rogue Squadron. The succeed in there mission but all have to face their end. It’s a shame to see them end without really knowing their background story. Because of this they didn’t added anything awesome to the story.
The Dark Side is strong with this one
My favorite part of the movie was the Darth Vader scene. If you already have seen the movie, you know about what scene I’m talking about.
At the end of the movie Darth Vader goes full rampage on the rebel ship, killing alot of rebels while they are trying to get the plans of the Death Star to Princess Leia. The scenes was really well done and gave me chills to see Darth Vader using the force and lightsaber to kill all the rebels.
Rating (out of 5 stars)
I give the Rogue One – A Star Wars Story 3 stars out of 5. The story was ok, it had some pretty cool scenes, but it didn’t leave a wow impression that I expect from Star Wars movies. I didn’t mind the mass murdering of all the main characters, but more character development would be better and if the movie started slower it would also be better. The scenes with Darth Vader were awesome and set a really dark tone to the movie. I hope they don’t use that much real life characters as CGI in the future.
For this review we go all the way back to 2001. The year in which Toy Story racer has been released on the Playstation 1. Developed by Traveller’s Tales and Tiertex Design Studios.
Funniest racing game ever!?
I have been a big fan of Toy Story my entire life. When I first saw Toy Story 1 it got me hooked, and who can deny after seeing this movie they fantasised about their toys coming to life when they are not around?
With all the Toy Story game releases this game stood out the most for me. Not only were there alot of character to pick in this game, but the challenges are fun and pretty challenging as well.
This game has a total of 200 challenges. Every character has a different amount of challenges and some challenges can unlock new characters to play with. These challenges can be normal races, battles games, but even collection challenges. These last can be very frustrating to find all the hidden clowns or dart boards within a certain amount of time.
My favorite challenges are the knockout races. In these challenges you have to race, but also can knockout enemies by hitting them with power-ups. You don’t need to knockout everyone in this challenge, as long as you finish first within a time limit and survive.
Here is a livestream of a few challenges and unlocking a new character
For those who think that the challenges are very easy, they will get harder over time. They start pretty easy, but over time you get less time to do more stuff or even clowns are hidden in places you even didn’t know were accessible.
Like Mario Kart, but for kids
Eventhough Mario Kart already is for kids, this game is a very fun game for kids. Challenges can be hard, but there are alot of different challenges to play. The local multiplayer option is very well done, and can be fun for hours.
I have played this game on the Playstation 1 and still play it on a emulator, but Sony also has released the game as “virtual console” game on the Playstation 3. No memory cards needed, and it’s fun to play this old classic game on the playstation once again.
I’m still hoping that this game will be remastered, or remade for the Playstation 4. Because a game with this many different challenges deserves a shoutout.
Yay or nay?
I would recommend everyone that’s looking for a fun, racing game to check this game out on the PS3, or buy the game on Ebay and play it on a Playstation Emulator if you haven’t played this game yet.
Skylanders Imaginators is the sixth game in the Skylanders series. This game is created by Toys For Bob who also created the other versions as well.
This installment of the series has been released on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This is the first game that hasn’t been released on the Wii.
The game itself is pretty straight forward, instead of Flynn being the lead role in this game, you now have to do it with the Skylanders itself. The Skylanders you will help you through this story are the main Skylanders from the Netflix’s Skylanders Academy series.
It’s something to get used to, because seeing Spyro helping you out, while playing as Spyro can be a little confusing.
That being said, the story itself is actually pretty short and not so surprising. You have to stop Kaos and his imaginators while visiting multiple locations. There are some funny jokes in the game, but don’t expect to be blown away by the awesomeness of this story.
New, but old Skylanders
The game itself introduces the Sensai Skylanders. There are the Skylanders figures with the pretty large base. These are completely new figures but also include some of the bad guys from Skylanders Trap Team (See wolfgang in the picture below).
The normal starter pack includes 2 sensai Skylanders and 1 creation crystal. There are some other starter packs as well that can include more or special figures. So does the Crash Bandicoot starter pack include the Crash Bandicoot and Neo Cortex Skylander figures. There were only for PS4 at laucnh, but now can be bought seperate and I think you can play them on all consoles now, not 100% sure about that though.
With the creation crystal you are able to create your own Skylander. Parts to create your Skylander can be received by opening chests and playing the story mode. At the end of every level you are granted some items.
One crystal can create a Skylander of the following battle classes. Be careful, because you can’t change the battle class after picking one.
Some say that the options are limited, but I think Toys For Bob did a really good job with this “create your own Skylander” function. There is enough to choose at and the combinations of the catchphrase can be very funny. Mine was “Be afraid of the bananas”.
Is it worth the money?
This is always a hard question. Skylanders Imaginators can be very expensive. If you want every battle class you need to buy a few creation crystals which have the price of 10€ per piece here.
The starter pack is enough to complete the game and if you’re not new to the series you probably have some Skylanders left from the older installments which you can use in this game as well. So it’s not needed to spend all your money on new toys, unless you want to complete the game 100% and get all the achievements. Yes you need to buy 3 more sensai Skylanders to complete the achievement to level a sensai Skylander to level 20.
JosWeb Score (0/100): 80/100
Eventhough the story wasn’t the best I had a amazing time playing the Skylanders Imaginators game. The jokes were fun, they added some cool new Skylanders to the game and not playing aside Flynn, but other Skylanders was surprising as well.
I didn’t buy any other Imaginators Skylanders, and completed the game only with the Crash Bandicoot starter pack for the PS4. I completed the story, but still have stuff to do in the game.
Comparing this with the older versions, this could be my favorite installment so far. Way better than the Superchargers one.
I would recommend picking this up, if you want to play it and you like collecting toys and putting them on a base everytime you want to play as one. If you want to pick it up, but the price is too much, just wait for next year. Skylanders games go down in price alot if you wait a year. Continue reading Skylanders Imaginators→
This is my first movie review, so I can maybe a little bit rusty about not knowing if it’s ok to spoil some things or not, but let give The Shallows a go.
The movies starts with a shot of a helmet with a Go Pro camera attached to it wash ashore and a kid finding the helmet. You would think that this is a very important part of the movie, or atleast it has something to do with the story. Sadly this wasn’t the case. More on that later.
The movie starts of slow. Well atleast it does for people who are expectation a thriller. In the first part of the movie we learn a little bit about Nancy (played by Blake Lively, known from movies like The Town). She has lost her mom to cancer. Leaving her, with her father and sister. She dropped out of medical school, because she lost faith in it after losing her mother. She clearly states that not everyone can be saved.
Beach we still don’t have a name…
She decides to find the beach her mother came when she was pregnant to surf. Her little sister is also a surfer, but she decided to go with a friend instead. The friend sadly didn’t make it, so she went to surf all by herself. This is where she met 2 other surfers and after a day of surfing this kind of goes wrong.
After finding a dead whale she encounters a shark. The shark bites her leaving a big wound in the girls left leg. She luckily has a medical background so she can go full MacGyver and stitch herself with only using her jewelry. The didn’t back out on showing this stuff on the big screen and the only thing that was more terrifying than the image of blood and a girl screaming of pain on the big screen was the face of the person sitting next to me when the movies showed this scene.
After regaining some strength on a little rock in the middle of the ocean she sees a man lying face down on the beach. She tries to get his attention which she eventually gets. Sadly for the man he tries to steal her stuff and gets killed by the shark when he tried to steal her surfboard.
The next day the two other surfers went back to the beach and find the girl on the rock. Sadly before getting there they both get killed by the shark. Nancy uses the Go Pro camera of the just killed surfer to ask for help, or alteast make a good bye video for her family.
After making the video Nancy tries to make it to the water buoy after figuring out the sharks routine. There she has a big battle against the shark which gave the shark a very weird death.
She tries to make it back to the beach, but sadly doesn’t have the energy anymore. The little boy who found the camera (see begin of the review) got some help who only takes her from the ocean back on the beach where Nancy herself wakes up.
The movie had a very interesting idea, but sadly didn’t deliver. The movie was long with some unneeded moments. Don’t get me started of her relationship with a seagull.
The acting was very good. I would love to see Blake Lively in future movies. Sadly if the story and the rest of the movie don’t appeal a good actor can’t make the movie awesome.
I give this movie a 2 star out of 5 rating. It was enjoyable, but it didn’t deliver for me. The deaths were not really needed, but I had the feeling that the creators wanted to show that the shark was a killer. The entire Go Pro camera idea could have been better which took like 5-10 minutes of the movie.
Auralux: Constellations is a game inspired by the populair Planet Wars game. The game is developed and published by War Drum Studios. The player has a planet that generates fleets to conquer or defend other planets.
The thing that War Drum Studios has done right is to make use of the Steam SDK and it’s features. Many other planet wars inspired games on Steam don’t have these functions. This way Auralux: Constellations makes a better impression to Steam users than those other games.
The game supports even controller support and ever testing it with a Xbox One controller I have to say that the controls work really good in this game.
To infinity and beyond…
The game has alot of levels to play. The levels go from easy to hard and can be very difficult at some time. I had to redo a couple of levels because I picked the wrong strategy. Sometimes it’s better to conquer a few small planets instead of 1 big one.
The levels really look good and are really fun.
Another Planet Wars game?
Like I already written above, the game does a very good job in integrating all the Steam SDK features, but there is one more other feature in the game that does make this planet wars better in my opinion. I never have seen the option to upgrade the planets during a match in any Planet Wars game. This brings an entire new strategy to the game. So it’s better to take out an upgraded planet and use it to create more fleets for yourself.
The game also features a few new mechanics like worm holes to transfer your fleet to other planets quickly. Also it can be possible that planets move. All these mechanics add another difficulty. But these mechanics make this Planet Wars inspired game so special.
JosWeb Score (0/100): 70/100
Auralux: Constellations is another Planet Wars inspired game, but this time the developers really made the best Planet Wars inspired game I have seen in a very long time. Making use of the Steam SDK and it’s features always gets a plus in my book. But the visuals and the strategies needed to complete a level make this game challenging and pretty to look at.
I would recommend buying this game if you like strategy games and want to play a Planet Wars inspired game.
